This is a watch I once owned and the only one I've ever regretted parting ways with. There's just something about those late 80s, early 90s 36mm Rolex Day-Dates—call it nostalgia, maybe. In white gold, it screams, “For me!" Quiet luxury at its finest. If you know, you know, and I don't care what anyone thinks. This is hot and a must-have that will return to me one day.
“I have a thing for the avant-garde lately and am obsessed with Urwerk. I love the design language; I also enjoy the flex of wearing something most have never seen and belonging to a club of forward-thinking design enthusiasts who just get it. The "Clockwork Orange" UR-105TA was limited to 100 pieces and is undoubtedly a grail of mine. I must and will have this watch one day.
I am a proud Jacob & Co. fanboy; Jacob was my introduction to complicated timepieces. The original Time Zone watch is peak early 2000s, and prior to its introduction, I didn’t even know about chronographs, let alone dual time-zone watches.
At the time of the original model’s release, The fact that you could track four time zones simultaneously blew my mind at the time. While I know some don’t get it, I love this watch, but like the dial says, “F**K 'EM.”
Admittedly, the Omega Speedmaster Professional is my favorite chronograph. As most Speedy enthusiasts do, I looked to discover other references that might catch my eye. Enter the Omega Speedmaster Reduced Yellow “Schumacher.” This watch is awesome, especially on a strap, making it feel much sportier than it already does.
What I love most about this watch is that it reminds us of Omega's original intention for the Speedmaster to be a racing watch. When you see this watch, you forget all about the moon landing and visualize cars zooming by.
My favorite 2023 release from Patek Philippe was the red Calatrava Ref. 6007G-010. The case design, coupled with the strap, dial layout, and typeface used for the numerals, is perfect and, at the same time, very unlike traditional Patek.
Perhaps not their riskiest piece, but certainly an acknowledgment and understanding of how their collector base is evolving and changing. I think this is an important watch and a must-have.
The Rolex Sea-Dweller Ref. 116600 is one of my favorite Rolex references. It’s perfectly sized at 40mm, with a vintage feel and a bit of a modern twist. I have mixed feelings about dive watches with a date, but this watch checks the box with its clean, cyclops-less crystal and small date window. It’s definitely a must-have for me.
The Silver Snoopy is by far the best anniversary piece Omega has released. The pop of blue against the silver dial is genuinely captivating. It’s definitely a conversation piece when you flip the watch over to reveal the animation of Snoopy going over the moon.
The Cartier Basculante is an IYKYK piece. The action of the case flipping is super cool. The idea that it can serve as a table clock is a story to tell when you’re giving your demo. The Basculante isn’t pedestrian at all & is definitely a sleeper dress watch worn for any occasion.
What more can I say–it’s an absolute need! The Ref. 5726 checks all of the boxes. Steel sports watch with an annual calendar–you’ll never have to take it off. It has both star power and functionality, making this watch undisputed.
This is, without a doubt, a grail of mine. This is a timepiece that’ll mean so much more in the years to come. Richard Mille's association with athletes that you have to Google is a testament to the brand’s power to bring recognition to athletes or sports that might not previously have been of interest to the masses.
