Over the course of Bezel’s growth to date, it’s been our distinct pleasure to bring greater trust and transparency to the watch market by authenticating every watch sold on our platform, as well as ensuring that listings accurately reflect the condition of the watches they represent.

In an effort to further elevate the watch-buying experience, Bezel is pleased to announce the launch of seven-day-long auctions, offering a wide range of exciting luxury watches from the world’s most distinguished and celebrated watchmakers.

With new auctions going live every Tuesday and Thursday, no shortage of opportunities to acquire great watches are in store.

Why Bid?

There’s nothing quite like an auction. From the thrill of bidding to the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that certain sales present, buying at auction is a guaranteed way to add an element of excitement to an already exhilarating purchase. With the added benefit of our thorough authentication process, alleviating any concerns surrounding legitimacy and originality, you can always bid with confidence on Bezel.

What’s more, is that Bezel’s auction estimates are generated using our proprietary price tracker, providing an accurate point of reference based upon real sales data. This is just one of the many ways we continually work towards leveraging technology to bring further transparency to the watch-collecting market.

Performing Due Diligence

Before bidding on a watch at auction, it’s recommended that you familiarize yourself with the market for the watch in question and that you thoroughly inspect all provided photos of the specific example being offered. Taking the time to assess its condition and researching comparable sales results and listings will help guide your understanding of what a particular watch should ultimately command and, as a result, your bidding. We cannot stress the value of performing this baseline of due diligence enough.

If ever you’re unsure of where the market stands on a watch, feel free to refer back to Bezel’s thousands of luxury watch listings or reach out to the Bezel Concierge team for considered and professional insights.

How and When to Bid

There’s no right or wrong way to bid, so long as you’re able to place the bid you wish to. That’s why we do our best to keep you updated throughout the sale with notifications concerning bidding activity and the amount of time remaining on particular sales. With that said, you can generally expect the bulk of bidding activity to occur toward the latter half of an auction and are advised to be attentive throughout the final moments of sales in which you’re bidding.

Alternatively, you also have the option to enter or amend a maximum bid that is farther above the current bid, affording the ability to automatically outbid others whose bids don’t surpass your pre-set maximum. Not only does this afford the ability to remove yourself from the process of actively bidding, but it can also assist with ensuring you remain below a specific and predetermined final buy price.

Does Bezel Charge a Buyer’s Premium?

While a buyer’s premium does typically apply to every winning bid, we’re pleased to waive these fees for a limited time in celebration of the launch of auctions on Bezel. We invite you to bid confidently and without the need to factor in an additional premium throughout each auction.

Purchases made using credit cards are applicable to standard payment processing fees.

What Happens After I’ve Won?

Once the auction comes to an end, you’ll be prompted to select your payment method and complete your purchase. Buyers are required to pay in full for all watches won within a 24-hour period.

After payment is received, the buyer’s funds are held in escrow. Only upon Bezel’s in-house confirmation of authenticity and accurate description are funds transferred to the seller, protecting buyers from deceptive and dishonest practices.

Are Watches Sold on Bezel at Auction Authenticated?

Just like all other watches sold on Bezel, those transacted upon by way of auctions are subject to the same authentication processes and diagnostic tests, ensuring you’re always getting an authentic watch that’s delivered to you exactly as it was described at the time of purchase.

For more information regarding Bezel’s multi-point approach to luxury watch authentication, we invite you to read more on the topic in the Bezel Journal.
