Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin “Tribute to 1931” Ref. Q2788570

Originally manufactured at the behest of British polo players in the 1930s, the now-iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso was designed to withstand the rigors of polo matches. As its name suggests, the rectangular watch was distinguished by its reversible case, which afforded durability by concealing its crystal and construction in stainless steel.

By 2011, the Reverso had established itself over eight decades as a true titan of horological design, and celebrating its significance was certainly in order. JLC marked the occasion in style by releasing the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin “Tribute to 1931” – a near exact recreation of the first Reverso references, fitted with a sleek black dial free of branding apart from the Reverso name itself. With luminous applications of Super-Luminova that simulate the appearance of aged tritium, untrained eyes would be forgiven for mistaking this sought-after reference for its vintage counterpart.

Tudor Black Bay 54 Ref. M79000N-0001

Since its inception in 1926, Tudor has prided itself on producing hardwearing sports watches capable of withstanding whatever comes their way. Unlike offerings from its sister brand, Rolex, Tudor watches are set apart by their more accessible price point while still adhering to the same design languages of desirable Rolex references. Upon the brand’s much-anticipated return to the American market in 2013, Tudor busted out onto the scene with the Black Bay collection, channeling the aesthetics of early Tudor Submariner references in modern form.

Over the last ten years, the Black Bay has become something of a fan favorite, appealing to budding and experienced collectors alike thanks to its unique ability to honor vintage Submariner designs faithfully while still bringing something new to the table. Of no exception to this rule is the simulated gilt dial-fitted Black Bay 54, modeled after the “Small Crown” reference 7922 with a crown guard-free, 37 mm case. Collectors of vintage Rolex and smaller watches are sure to appreciate this one.

Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Acciaio Ref. PAM00662

Unlike other top watchmakers that eventually ventured into military watch production, the earliest days of Panerai were characterized by manufacturing heavy-duty watches and instruments intended for military applications. During this time, they notably supplied the Royal Italian Navy’s frogmen with dive-ready timepieces. Panerai’s renown quickly extended beyond Italy’s borders, attracting the Egyptian Navy with their legendarily luminous offerings in 1954.

With the 1000-piece limited edition reference PAM00662, Panerai honors the legacy of the vintage reference 6154, often called the “Egiziano Piccolo," originally produced for Egyptian naval divers. Like classic Radiomir references of the period, this SIHH 2016 release boasts an oversized, 47 mm stainless steel case, and is fitted with a plexiglass crystal and “sandwich” dial, colored to match the appearance of vintage examples that have aged to achieve a “Tropical” brown tone. Panerai’s manufacture Calibre P. 3000 movement powers this heritage-focused hit, featuring an impressive power reserve of three days.

Omega Seamaster 300 Heritage Ref. 234.30.41.21.01.001

In addition to the Rolex Submariner and Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, Omega’s Seamaster 300 holds a special place in the annals of dive watch history, helping pioneer the horological subcategory in its entirety while aiding legendary divers in accomplishing borderline heroic feats.

Following in the horological footsteps of other Omega reissues, including but not limited to the Speedmaster “First Omega in Space,” and offerings from the watchmaker’s widely-admired Museum Collection, the aptly named Seamaster 300 Heritage exists as an unwavering ode to the earliest Seamaster 300 references introduced in 1957. Though it may sport updated dimensions, along with a Co-Axial Master Chronometer movement, it pays tribute to the fabled design by way of its custard-colored luminous applications, “Broad Arrow” shaped hands, and a black rotating bezel printed with numerals executed in a near identical typeface.

Rolex Sea-Dweller Ref. 126600-0002

Though the Submariner might receive the bulk of the fanfare within dive watch collecting circles, the Sea-Dweller has long represented the pinnacle of Rolex’s dive watch output, featuring a greater depth rating and brawnier proportions across the board. While those with a cursory understanding of vintage Rolex watches might regard the “Double Red” Sea-Dweller as the back catalog’s must-have, true obsessives recognize the even rarer “Single Red” Sea-Dweller as an all-time grail.

In 2017, Rolex celebrated the Sea-Dweller’s 50th anniversary through the release of this very watch, nodding to the experimental “Single Red” Sea-Dwellers of the late 1960s with its model designation text executed in red. In an attempt to appeal to a new generation of collectors, the 4000-foot rated dive watch measures a more contemporary 43 mm across, and features a greater power reserve than its predecessors.
